Our new friends from Malama Honua Charter School came to spend a day of learning and fun with us. We set up various rotations all focusing around Malama 'Aina. We first shared an oli and spent time getting to know our new friends. We then rotated through three Malama 'Aina groups. Mrs. Lathrop made seed ball with the children. These balls can be thrown into areas that need plants and will begin sprouting as soon as water touches it. Mr. Balding had the children get compost from the pile and carry it up to the sweet potato patch to help it grow. Mrs. Merritt took canvases that the Explorers prepped with a background and had the children add to it...Jackson Pollack style. What a fun morning! After lunch, the learning continued. We walked up Rocky Hill and met Kumu Peiterson and Kumu Tai. We listened to a legend and then rotated between two groups touring the gardens and planting native seeds. Definitely a full day of fun and learning!
